Cardi B Extends Olive Branch to Latto Over Leaked Call

Cardi B and Latto

Cardi B has publicly addressed her past fallout with fellow rapper Latto, offering context and expressing regret over a leaked phone conversation that escalated their rift into public view. In a detailed post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, the “WAP” rapper responded to recent comments from Latto, who confirmed that bars on her new track “Gimme Dat” were aimed at Cardi.

“I truly understand how you feel…and that’s exactly why I chose to apologize publicly because the disrespect became public,” Cardi wrote. “On that call I didn’t even mean to call you that, I didn’t mean any harm.. There’s a difference in what I said vs what I meant. What I could have said was you was too forgiving and gave too much mercy in that situation.. But it was a heated conversation and I let my mouth get the best of me.”

Cardi explained the personal pressures she was under at the time the call surfaced, noting she was eight months pregnant, had just released her album, and felt overwhelmed. “Thats not to excuse what I said but to let you know where I was in my head. I genuinely felt bad about what happened,” she added.

The Bronx rapper emphasized her respect for Latto and detailed efforts to resolve the issue privately. “In 2025 and 2026 I made multiple attempts to connect…I spoke with your manager, your sister, and even texted you directly to take full responsibility. I always had love and respect for you! I always wanted to make it right but making it right looks different for the both of us… I wanted to connect with you but you wanted to address it on your album,” Cardi stated.

The original drama traces back to a leaked rant in which Cardi appeared critical of Latto’s approach to a situation, reportedly using strong language that Latto found disrespectful. Cardi had previously issued a public apology in 2025, stating she respected Latto heavily and even offered to buy her a bag privately.

Tensions reignited with Latto’s recent album release and her appearance on The Breakfast Club on June 4, 2026, where she addressed the lyric and indicated openness to a conversation. Both artists, now mothers, have referenced emotional states and personal circumstances during the initial conflict, leaving the door slightly ajar for potential private reconciliation.
