The Ogun State Police Command has swung into action following complaints of rising robbery attacks on students of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED), ordering an immediate investigation and strategic security deployments across affected areas.
The Commissioner of Police directed a diligent probe into the recent incidents at Ijele and within the TASUED community after the Students’ Union issued a strongly worded 72-hour ultimatum demanding urgent intervention. In a statement issued on April 30, the command confirmed it held a productive meeting with the Divisional Police Officer of Igbeba and the Students’ Union Government President to address the security concerns.
“Following a productive conversation with the DPO Igbeba and the SUG President this morning, we wish to reassure students that strategic security deployments are underway to ensure the apprehension of the perpetrators of these crimes,” the Ogun State Police Command stated. The police urged students to remain calm while intensifying efforts to restore safety.
The police response comes after the TASUED Students’ Union, in a letter dated April 30, 2026, condemned the spate of robberies targeting students. The union described the attacks as deeply disturbing and expressed frustration over the lack of swift action, warning that it would not tolerate continued insecurity on and around the campus.
The Students’ Union had demanded immediate reinforcement of security through intensified patrols, intelligence-driven operations, and collaboration with local vigilante groups to dismantle criminal networks. It also called on students to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
