Nigerian Faces US Deportation After String of Criminal Convictions

Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced that Nigerian national Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi is set to be removed from the United States following years of unlawful presence and a documented history of criminal convictions.

Ajayi entered the United States in 2007 on a student visa but eventually left school and failed to depart the country when his authorization expired. Instead, he remained in the U.S. and accumulated a significant criminal record, according to ICE.

His convictions include domestic violence, trespassing, intimidation, and obstruction. Court records and ICE statements also reference egregious charges involving kidnapping, rape, and family neglect.

In its official announcement on X (formerly Twitter) on June 22, 2026, ICE detailed the case: “Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi, of Nigeria, entered the United States in 2007 on a student visa and eventually left school, but failed to leave the country. Instead, he stayed in the U.S. and got to work on a lengthy rap sheet that includes convictions such as: Domestic violence, Trespassing, Intimidation, Obstruction. His criminal history also includes these egregious charges: Kidnapping, Rape, Family neglect.”

The agency added: “Thanks to President Trump’s commitment to getting criminal illegal aliens out of this country, Ajayi will be leaving the United States shortly.”

The development comes amid heightened immigration enforcement priorities under the current administration, which has emphasized the removal of noncitizens with criminal histories as a matter of public safety. Reports indicate Ajayi, described as 39 years old in some accounts, is now in custody or processing for deportation back to Nigeria.
