Nigeria delivered a commanding performance to claim gold in the women’s 4×100 metres relay final at the African Athletics Championships in Accra, setting a new championship record in the process.
The Nigerian quartet of Rosemary Chigozie, Jennifer Obi Chukwuka, Rosemary Chukwuma, and Miracle Ezechukwu powered to victory with a time of 42.94 seconds. The performance, described as unofficial but meeting championship record standards, broke the previous record and underlined Nigeria’s dominance in the women’s sprint relay on the continent.
