Kano Police Record Major Security Breakthroughs, Arrest Robbers, Kidnappers and Drug Dealers

The Kano State Police Command has recorded significant operational successes in its ongoing crackdown on criminal activities across the state, with several suspects linked to armed robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, vehicle theft and other violent crimes arrested within the last one month.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed that the achievements were recorded between April 20 and May 20, 2026, following intensified intelligence-led policing operations and strengthened collaboration with other security agencies.

According to the police command, the sustained operations have led to improved security surveillance, rapid response to criminal threats and increased disruption of criminal networks operating within Kano and neighbouring areas.

CP Bakori attributed the successes to strategic security reforms introduced by the command, including enhanced intelligence gathering, inter-agency cooperation and the deployment of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), which he said has boosted the command’s capacity to tackle violent crimes swiftly and effectively.

The police commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to professional, accountable and community-driven policing, stressing that the safety of residents remains a top priority.

He noted that the command would continue to intensify operations against criminal elements while strengthening partnerships with communities and stakeholders to sustain peace and public safety across the state.

“The Command remains committed to professional, accountable and community-based policing in order to ensure the protection of lives and property throughout Kano State,” Bakori stated.

The latest security breakthroughs come amid ongoing efforts by security agencies nationwide to combat rising cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, drug-related crimes and organised criminal activities.

Residents have also been urged to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information capable of assisting law enforcement officers in preventing crimes and apprehending offenders.

The Kano State Police Command assured members of the public that operations targeting criminal hideouts and violent offenders would continue across the state as part of broader efforts to maintain law and order.
