U.S. immigration authorities have arrested a Nigerian national, Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo, in Los Angeles as part of ongoing enforcement operations targeting individuals with prior criminal records.
Officials from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed that the 53-year-old was taken into custody on April 21, 2026, by its Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) unit. He is currently being held pending removal proceedings from the United States.
According to ICE, Olusanjo has a history of previous arrests linked to serious offenses, including child molestation, sexual battery, and soliciting lewd conduct. In a statement circulated by the agency, officials said: “Los Angeles ERO arrested Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo, 53, of Nigeria, Apr. 21… Olusanjo has previous arrests for child molestation, sexual battery and soliciting lewd conduct. He is in ICE custody pending removal.”
Authorities indicated that his prior legal issues were a key factor in his detention, as immigration enforcement efforts increasingly prioritize individuals with criminal backgrounds.
The arrest comes amid a broader crackdown on undocumented migrants under the current U.S. administration, with officials intensifying efforts to identify, detain, and deport individuals deemed to have violated immigration laws or posed risks to public safety.
