Galatasaray Mourns Ex-Nigeria Striker Michael Eneramo

Turkish giants Galatasaray SK have expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Nigeria international Michael Eneramo, joining the growing wave of tributes from across the football community.

The former Espérance Sportive de Tunis and Lobi Stars forward was featuring at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in Kaduna on Friday when he slumped and died after coming in as a substitute in a community fixture.

In a statement shared via the club’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, Galatasaray paid homage to the late forward, who featured for several clubs in the Turkish Süper Lig during his career. “We are saddened to hear the passing of Michael Eneramo who played for multiple clubs in Turkish Süper Lig,” the club said.

The Istanbul-based side extended its condolences to those closest to the former striker, adding, “Everyone at Galatasaray SK extends their condolences to his family, friends and the federation of Nigeria.”

Eneramo, 40, widely remembered for his time in Turkish football, built a reputation as a hardworking forward and fan favourite during his stint in the country. His contributions across multiple clubs in the league earned him recognition both in Turkey and back home in Nigeria, where he represented the national team.
